Alzheimer Caregivers Needed to Participate in Job Task Analysis Sponsored by the National Certification Board for Alzheimer Care
Chicago, IL August 31, 2009 — Donna Surges-Tatum PhD, Chair of the National Certification Board for Alzheimer Care (NCBAC), announced today that Alzheimer Caregivers are needed to participate in a job task analysis of the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to provide care for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease. NCBAC is conducting the first job task analysis of the work performed by Alzheimer Caregivers (AC) in nursing homes and home health agencies.

A questionnaire will be made available to Alzheimer Caregiver’s that collect data related to the tasks performed and work environment. Another questionnaire will be distributed to supervisory Alzheimer Caregivers to collect data relating to the experience necessary to provide for patient care and safety. Alzheimer Caregivers for purposes of the study are defined as individuals, regardless of title, who assist with or provide the delivery of care to persons living with Alzheimer’s disease. Results of AC job analyses may be used by educational programs as they plan curricula and instructional materials as well as by those involved in the assessment of AC competencies.
