What We Are Doing

By providing an independent third-party certification, the NCBAC® is committed to providing education support to those who care for or provide education to those who work with persons who have Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders.

Board Certification offers a voluntary credentialing procedure that attempts to validate the competence of Alzheimer Caregivers and Educators based on practice-based knowledge and application of that knowledge.

The NCBAC® is the ONLY independent Board that was created for the sole purpose of administering standardized certification examinations in dementia care following the healthcare certification/licensure model. According to best practices, the NCBAC® does not require a particular education course or provider as a requirement of Certification.

  • WHY:  To ensure persons with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders and their families receive the best possible care.

  • HOW:  Through two Certifications

Certified Alzheimer Caregiver (CAC)®
CAEd® – Certified Alzheimer Educator®

  • WHEN – CAEd® and Certified Alzheimer Caregiver (CAC)® Exams are available through our secure, online testing platform.
